Quality of Life
There are dozens of reasons why Randolph County offers a wonderful quality of life. First, the culture here is different, and visitors notice it immediately. They see people waving and smiling and striking up a conversation. Respect, courtesy, and consideration for others help create a community where people want to live, work, and nurture families.
Then there is the natural beauty you'll find in every season. The blaze of autumn. The greens of summer. The multiple colors of spring and the majesty of winter. You can relax on the bluff at Fort Gage and gaze at the confluence of the Grand Kaskaskia and the Mighty Mississippi. Watch riverboats push barge tows larger than football fields up and down the rivers. Observe wildlife in the river flyways, or visit Turkey Bluffs, Baldwin Lake, or the Confluence Heritage Area. There is always something to enjoy in any season with your entire family. Like the Popeye Festival and Parade in Chester, drag boat races on the Kaskaskia River, the Fall Festival in Coulterville, Eagle Fest at the Jerry F. Costello Lock & Dam, visit the World Shooting & Recreation Complex in Sparta, Holiday Happenings in Red Bud, Octoberfest in Steeleville, and dozens of family activities year-round.
Stay healthy with a workout at Chester's Cohen Complex. It features a walking/running path, outdoor workout equipment, and tennis, soccer, baseball, and softball fields. Red Bud and Sparta have community pools. Enjoy your day at Red Bud, Steeleville, Sparta, Eden, Tilden, Coulterville, or Evansville parks.
